Who
are the courses for?
Vocational Training offer a wide variety of courses aimed at people living in the West Lothian area. Free courses are available for unemployed learners or those who work only a few hours a week. Vocational Training also provide cost effective training courses suited to most people's budgets. Whichever course you choose, we will aim to help you improve your job prospects.
Course Payment
Most of the courses offered by Vocational Training are free of charge. In addition to this, learners can access Individual Learning Accounts. This provides learners with up to £200 towards a course of their choice.
As a voluntary organisation and training provider we will endeavour to assist learners to ensure they can access quality training at reasonable prices or for free.
Computing Qualifications you can gain:
European
Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
Awarding Body: British Computer Society
The ECDL is a computing qualification which is becoming well-known and
accepted be employers because it provides a good basic grounding in
computing. The ECDL syllabus has been created to cover key computing
concepts and their application in the workplace.
The full qualification comprises 7 modules:
1. Basic Concepts of Information Technology
2. Using the Computer and Managing Files
3. Word Processing
4. Spreadsheets
5. Databases
6. Presentation
7. Information and Communication
You work through each module at your own pace. You can then take a test
which will count towards the full qualification. When you complete all
7 modules, you receive a certificate.
After
completing ECDL you may progress to the City & Guilds course outlined
below.

City & Guilds Using Information Technology (Level 2) Diploma
Candidates complete the module - Information Technololgy Principles
plus two optional modules from:
Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Using the Internet, Presentation
Graphics, Computerised Accounts, Desktop Publishing, Integrated Applications,
Multimedia, Web site design.

Our
training centre only trains small groups of people (maximum 12). We
have many years experience of helping people who are sometimes lacking
in confidence gain the skills they need to return to work or go on to
further education or become active members of their community
